Barbados
Barbados is the eastern Island arriving from Africa. In the past it was the unfortunate landing and dispatching point of thousands of slaves being taken to work in the sugar cane plantations in all of the Caribbean islands. Previously, Barbados was ruled by the British, and since 50 years has been declared independent. In fact, the rally, Barbados 50, was named after such anniversary.
The island has great white sand beaches, 
unfortunately not easily reachable by sailboat.Bridgetown, the capital, is a very alive city. Though you can feel the hard leaving conditions of many people. Amazingly, the cost of life is very high, and you can pay 1.5 USD for an apple, or 7 USD for a kg of tomatoes, all imported from Florida!!!!
For reasons difficult to explain, little is grown in the island despite the rain and the fertile soil.
As it is common in most of the Antilles, the rum production is one of the heritages of the sugar cane cultivation, now that the sugar business is not profitable any longer due to globalization.
